Dewayne grew up in East Texas and graduated from Westwood High School in 1989. From 1989 to 2004, he built custom homes and worked in commercial construction alongside his brother and father as co-owners of Taylor & Sons Construction. He then moved to Dallas to work for a large developer, where he began constructing commercial properties and warehouses. In 2007, Dewayne met his wife, Julie, and they married in 2009. Together, they raised four children and now have five grandchildren. In 2015, Dewayne joined Pogue Construction as a superintendent, overseeing numerous school and church projects. In 2021, he was promoted to Senior Superintendent, and in July 2024, he became General Superintendent. Dewayne is an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoys traveling, boating, cooking, and spending quality time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
