Pogue Construction joined Irving Independent School District (Irving ISD) leaders, educators, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of the district’s new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center—a transformative facility designed to prepare students for high-demand careers. This milestone marks the beginning of a project that will redefine hands-on learning and workforce readiness for thousands of Irving ISD students.
A Bold Investment in Student Success
The CTE Center is part of the $573.75 million bond program approved by voters in 2023, which funds district-wide improvements, including new campuses, two Baby University childcare centers, and this cutting-edge CTE facility. Learn more about the bond program here.
This investment reflects Irving ISD’s commitment to equipping students with the skills and certifications needed for success in today’s competitive job market. The center will expand career pathways in health sciences, engineering, robotics, culinary arts, information technology, and more, aligning with high-wage, high-demand industries.
What Makes the CTE Center Unique?
Designed by PBK Architects and built by Pogue Construction, the new CTE Center will span approximately 189,000 square feet across three stories. The facility will feature:
- Specialized Labs & Classrooms: Spaces for advanced programs like biomedical sciences, engineering, and robotics.
- Culinary Arts Kitchens: Professional-grade kitchens for aspiring chefs.
- Technology Integration: State-of-the-art IT infrastructure and collaborative learning environments.
- Outdoor Drone Testing Area: A rooftop space dedicated to drone technology and aviation programs.
Every detail of the design supports hands-on, real-world learning experiences that prepare students for certifications, internships, and post-secondary opportunities.
Construction Timeline and Cost
Construction is scheduled for completion in Summer 2027, ensuring the facility is ready for the 2027–2028 school year. The project is being delivered through the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) method, allowing Pogue Construction to collaborate closely with PBK Architects and the district to maintain quality, safety, and budget alignment throughout the build.
Why This Matters
The CTE Center is more than a building; it’s a launchpad for future careers. By providing access to industry-standard equipment and expert instruction, Irving ISD is giving students a competitive edge in college and the workforce.
