Experience:2+ years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment or construction machinery maintenance. Familiarity with general contractor operations and job site logistics is preferred.
Education: High School Diploma
Summary of Position:
The Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of construction-related vehicles and heavy equipment across multiple active job sites. This role is field-based, requiring daily travel to Pogue job sites across North Texas and Houston. The Mechanic operates a fully equipped Pogue truck provided by the company, which is parked at the Pogue HQ overnight and serves as a mobile repair station.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of construction equipment (e.g., forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, generators).
- Perform routine maintenance on company trucks, trailers, and jobsite tools.
- Drive to job sites daily to respond to equipment service requests or breakdowns.
- Keep accurate maintenance and repair records using provided software or logs.
- Inspect incoming equipment for operability and job-readiness.
- Coordinate with project superintendents and field staff to prioritize equipment repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain and restock the Pogue mechanic truck with commonly used tools, fluids, and parts.
Required Skills/Expectations:

- Familiarity with construction job site protocols and GC workflows
- Ability to read equipment manuals and technical schematics
- Basic computer or tablet skills for logging work orders
- CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus
- Strong understanding of diesel and small engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting
Certifications:
- Valid Texas driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Clean driving record
- ASE certification or trade school diploma is a plus
