Experience: 1+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or a related field (including academic projects or internships), with exposure to Power BI for creating reports and basic DAX formulas, and familiarity with data cleaning, validation, and database systems such as SQL.

Summary of Position: The Power BI Assistant supports data extraction, cleaning, visualization, and report optimization to align with business goals. This entry-level role collaborates with the development team, troubleshoots data issues, utilizes Azure for integration, automates workflows, and ensures data accuracy through quality checks and documentation, offering a strong foundation for technical growth in the construction industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team to extract data from various APIs and other sources
  • Perform data cleaning and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Prepare and load datasets into Power BI for visualization purposes.
  • Create and modify DAX formulas for new measures and calculations as needed.
  • Support the Power BI Specialist with data modeling, dashboard creation, and report optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to maintain seamless workflows.
  • Work closely with the Power BI Specialist to align data activities with business objectives.
  • Monitor and validate data accuracy in reports and dashboards, troubleshooting discrepancies as needed.
  • Utilize Azure services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Storage, to support Power BI data integration, transformation, and storage processes.
  • Develop documentation for data processes and dashboards for consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Automate data updates and workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining data security and governance standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on reports and dashboards before deployment.

Required Skills/Expectations:

  • Basic knowledge of Power BI, including data preparation, visualization, and creating/modifying DAX formulas.
  • Familiarity with data cleaning, validation, and transformation processes.
  • Foundational understanding of Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage) for data integration and storage.
  • Experience with workflow automation and troubleshooting data-related issues.
  • Ability to monitor, validate, and troubleshoot data discrepancies in reports and dashboards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and reporting.
  • Ability to work closely with the Power BI Specialist and development team to align data activities with business objectives.
  • Proficient in documenting data processes and dashboards to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency.
  • Willingness to automate workflows and updates to improve efficiency.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new technologies and skills.
  • Open to feedback and eager to grow within a dynamic team environment.
  • Assist in maintaining data security and adhering to governance standards.

Candidate Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required, with relevant certifications (e.g., Power BI, Azure) considered a plus.
